Can anyone explain how and why the Japanese decided to produce square watermelons?
I have nothing against the Japanese, but seriously was there anything wrong with the round/oval shaped melons that have been growing for thousands of years?

They put it in a Plexiglas box, it’s just for marketing they sell those for like $400…
I dunno, if they sell those things for like $400, wouldn’t there be more of a secret behind them than just a stupid Plexiglas box?
I think Bodyrot might be right…they do the same thing with a certain animal too, I can’t remember which one though- it’s to keep them small
I think it’s puppies…to keep them small, I could be wrong (hopefully)
It’s so they don’t roll. Much easier to store them and stack them if they are square. Also, puppies aren’t placed into plexiglass boxes to keep them small. Cows, however, are. Veal, it’s what’s for dinner.
to better fit their asses
yep
